Monday 26th April

Hi there!
As I promised myself I cast on my new waistcoat last night.

It is Sirdar Denim Tweed Chunky which is a nice cotton/wool mix, so thick but not too hard (if you know what I mean.)
I've done loads already (tea wasn't great tonight - too busy knitting!!!!!!!) and with it being a mega chunky yarn I'm hoping this won't take too long therefore not breaking my Resolution. (I wish.)

Something else bursting up in the garden - Gunnera which unfortunately won't get HUGE because it doesn't sit in water - only a plastic bag lined hole.

DS and me having lovely drives to school/work in the morning and we have been spotting a hare most mornings. The oil seed rape is just coming into bloom, I'll take some photos when the fields are glowing yellow and get some of the bluebell woods around here which are just breathtaking.

Off to knit some more now.

Sunday 25th April

Hello. Firstly I need to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Mum.

A busy day today - DS's last rugby match of the season, which he enjoyed a lot. I've not managed any Knitting or Crochet yet today (boo) but I have done some gardening and walked around taking photos of things growing. I love this time of year.

Our garden is not big about 20m x 15m so everything has to earn it's place or it goes.

We have a Snowberry in full bloom, which as the name suggests will be covered in berries soon, which the birds will love.

Close up of the flowers

Also popping up one (of many) Hostas. Hostas are great but unfortunately the snails and slugs think they are too. There are loads in our garden which look lovely before the pesky things turn them into ribbons but I don't mind too much.

The other thing I'd like to show you is the Rheum (ornamental rhubarb) which has this lovely purpley tinge to it whilst the leaves are coming out.

Hopefully I'll get some knitting done tonight - after the ironing - might be starting a new project. (Which is a bit naughty because my New Year's Resolution is to ONLY HAVE TWO THINGS ON THE GO AT ONCE.)

My First One!!!!!

Saturday 24th April

Wow, well here goes, my first ever blog. The weather here has been fabulous of late so when I've been getting in from work I've been indulging in a bit of crochet.

I've been sat in my steamer chair in the sunshine, a cup of tea by my side, with the bubble pool sounding like a babbling brook and crocheting. What bliss!
(I'll show you the bubble pool later on.)

This blanket is made up from all my double knit oddments from various projects and will be a lovely record of things from the past. I had forgotten how much I love doing a ripple! If you fancy having a go the pattern is available here - the wonderful attic24.

Just an hour or so before starting cooking for the gang, it's quite lovely.

I'm also surrounded by these rather wonderful ferns, which are a bit like weeds and keep popping up all over the place but I can always pull up the ones that end up in the wrong place.

I just love them, such a lovely bright spring colour.

That's all for today. Bye.
