Half Term

Hello folks.
Half term has finally arrived for us Southerners.  This has been an eight week term and has been a long, long time.  I'm looking forward not to be awoken by my alarm at 6.00am for a week.  Who knows? maybe I'll sit in bed with a cup of tea and my iPad catching up on blogs, something I seem not to have managed lately.

Me and Romain had a lovely day out at Ally Pally, but neither of us bought very much.

I got two patterns from Purl Alpaca Designs. I tried both of them on and they were certainly very soft and squidgy, though if I make either, it won't be in the pattern yarn.

The other thing I bought was a set 4.5mm Knit Pro tips.  I'm sure I have some somewhere but I can't find them.
So that was it, the sum total of my purchases ~ other than the tea/cakes of course.  There seemed to be less yarn stalls and more handbags/fabrics, although there was a huge amount of alpaca in various forms.  I'm not sure we'll go again next year, for us the show seems to have run it's course.

I have however, had a little on-line visit to Wool Warehouse  to take advantage of the Drops Alpaca Party, a 25% discount offer from Drops that runs until 31st December.  The yarn came in a pretty organza bag with a Wool Warehouse ribbon closure.
I got two balls of Drops Delight ~ sock yarn ~ a new colourway for me with some green in it and..
three balls of Drops Alpaca ~ 4ply.  This is a gorgeous yarn, warm and light and needs to be bought just for the cute label.   I'm planning on a stripy scarf inspired by one we saw on a stall at Ally Pally, because I really need another scarf.
Talking of stripes, Mon Petit Gilet Raye ~ made from the same two yarns ~ is coming along well.  There are 486 projects of it on Ravelry so I'm not alone in liking it.  I am at the waist of the body still loving the pattern and yarn despite having frogged back to the yoke, and half an arm.  I've put two extra increase repeats in the yoke, and if it doesn't fit this time it'll be going to someone ~ anyone ~ else who fits it.  The yarn isn't going to take another frog.
I'm trying to concentrate solely on it and not casting on a new stripy scarf.  I'll have a couple hours tomorrow as it is The Butterfly Knitters meet up, I'm not sure where the last month went, it only seems like a week since the last one.  Blimey! Christmas will be upon us before we know it.

Now I've said the C word to unsettle you all, I'm off.

Hope you have a cracking week.

See you soon.......Clicky Needles.

P.S.  Just to let you know Master Clicky is fully recovered from his fall and eye cut, and now has a very interesting scar.  Thanks for all your good wishes.

  1. I've been eyeing up the Drops alpaca sale with a Mon Petit Gilet in mind. I've already got two balls of Drops Delight, so will buy more in the same shade - just got to decide on beige or silvery grey now! Happy half-term - enjoy your week off work.

  2. Hi Mrs CN! I just knit my first little project with alpaca fiber and posted a photo of it before reading your report. I love the feel and fuzzy glow of the alpaca. I hope you enjoy using the lovely fiber you just got and enjoy your half-term week as well :) xx

  4. Lovely alpaca, it will be so warm. A shame that the show wasn't more inspiring. I'm glad it's half term too, and right now the sun is shining. Glad Master C has healed nicely. There are a few scars in this house too, it seems to be the way with boys. Enjoy the weekend. CJ xx
