Wow! What a lampshade!

Hi there!
Hope you're all well.
Thanks for your good wishes for DD's overnighter in a tent in the gales!
She was less bothered by the wind than the two other girls who she shared a tent with.  She was on the bottom of the slope and consequently they rolled onto her, so not the best night's sleep.  They were then woken at 6.30am to do P.T. which didn't go down well!  They were bridge building, raft making, making a fire etc, all for the Uniformed Services course she is doing at college.

Yesterday Mr CN, me and DS went to visit some old friends who live in Sandhurst.  I volunteered to drive home but Mr CN drove there, so I got out some 12mm needles and the Plassard Zoom that my friend B sent me back in May after she visited the Plassard Factory Shop in France.  (What a lovely friend I have!)
A chunky garter stitch scarf, what a great bit of in car knitting.

I carried on this morning whilst watching the Rugby World Cup, about the only thing I can knit whilst watching because I do tend to shout at the TV and can't concentrate on anything more.
 Coming along nicely.
I've completed another square for the friendship blanket, I'm particularly pleased with this one.
Vogue Stitchionary 2 was well worth it!
You'll be pleased to know that I have sewed that button on my Autumn Cardi and it's blocking now so pictures next time.

I went to Gloucester on Friday to take some of my hand dyed yarn into Miju Wools and had a tootle around.  I found myself in BHS (to use the loo!) and spotted this across the shop floor.
I was drawn in for a closer look.
I stood deliberating for some time.
Did we need a new lampshade for the bedroom?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Not to everyone's taste I know but I LOVE IT.
Mr CN proclaimed it to be a 'Disco ball' ~ it is quite sparkly.

I can't quite believe I'm up to 59 followers now ~ how exciting ~ and thanks for all your lovely comments I really enjoy reading them.

Righto I'm off to read some blogs and then an evening of knitting.

Have a great week.

Byeeeeeee..................Clicky Needles.

  1. Your light-shade is a darn sight better than mine which is about thirty years old.

The cabling is marvellous, I love doing it and must re-start. I keep making tension squares of the yarn that I've had for ever and leaving it at that. I need a push I think.

  2. 60 followers now!! I have just joined your club!! lol!

I wish i could crochet my own blanket!! Time and knowledge is stopping me!! I really really want one but they are just so expensive!

  3. Shouting at the TV while watching the World Cup is normal here at our house, it's amplified as we are watching every game. Yes we are mad, we say we wont watch some of the matches but we do, lucky friends went to Dunners to see the England vs Argentina match, said it was amazing although, we are Kiwis through and through.

  4. I love that lampshade, it's fantastic. :) Those that don't like clearly have no taste!

That is a very beautiful cable in that square. It would great in a garment, but sadly that's where my imagination ends.

  5. Wowsers!! I love that lampshade. You did the right the right thing buying it!!
    How amazing.
    Have a great week.

  6. That is a fantastic lampshade. I want one now! Very neat cabling on your blanket square. I shall (hopefully) be cabling very soon as I'm planning on casting on a new jumper this week (when everyone's at either school or work and I get some peace and quiet!).

  7. Hi girl! Very impressed with the cable square and your scarf will be wonderful, who gets it? I also love the lampshade, heck, you need to get things that make your life fun when you see them!
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Well I'm glad DD is back safe and sound and still in one piece. Mr CN must have wanted to do a long drive as he doesn't have to drive such long distances to work now. Lampshade is gorgeous I look at them whenever I'm in BH but resist. Dojo

  9. I love the lightshade, such fun. Glad to hear that everything went ok for your daughter. Your scarf is looking lovely, the colour will go with so many things.

  10. I have nominated you for a versatile blog award. Check out my blog for details. I understand if you do not have the time to pass this on but thought I would nominate you as I like your blog.

Liking the garter stitch scarf - the yarn looks really nice.

Love that lampshade as well very different.

    Have a lovely week!
